Mechanical Engineering (MEN)

1. General introduction - What is mechanical engineering?

The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (MEN) is a six-semester program that combines both basic and applied engineering sciences with the natural sciences and mathematics, led by Vietnamese-German University (VGU). in cooperation with Ruhr University Bochum and Otto-von-Guericke Magdeburg University, Germany.

Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's degree program is especially suitable for high school graduates who have a passion for engineering, technology and wish to expand their knowledge and skills in a learning environment. Internationality taught entirely in English. The program provides students with the highest skills and in-depth knowledge needed to become an engineer in one of two majors: "Engineering Design and Automation" and "Engineering Energy and Transforming" - are majors that are being recruited by domestic and international employers.

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and most extensive engineering disciplines, which is constantly evolving, absorbing the results of natural science research and using them to improve existing products. like creating new products. Mechanical engineers should have in-depth knowledge of physics, mathematics, and materials. As information technology is increasingly used in design, testing, and manufacturing, mechanical engineers must be computer savvy, economically, and ecologically savvy in order to design and produce sustainably.

2. Admission method

Admission is carried out via the following modes:

  • Mode 1 (TestAS): based on an entrance examination (TestAS) and regularly carried out in May every year. The admission quota of Mode 1 is up to 70% of each study

  • program. Applicants could submit valid TestAS certificates appropriate to applied study programs to substitute for the VGU entrance examination.

  • Mode 2 (High school Transcript): Selection based on the high school results of those who will graduate from Vietnamese high schools in the admission year.

  • Mode 3 (Direct admission): Direct admission for applicants having excellent academic achievements including provincial/national prizes or participation in international high school competitions.

  • Mode 4 (International high school degrees/certificates): Selection formality for applicants having recognized international high school diplomas (IBD, AS/A-Level, IGCSE, WACE…) or certificates of international aptitude tests (SAT, TestAS…).

  • Mode 5 (High school Graduation Exam): Selection based on the high school results of those who will graduate from Vietnamese high schools following blocks: A00/A01; D01/D03/D05/D07; V00/V02.

3. Skills required for Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers need to apply principles of physics and mathematics to solve problems in the design and operation of machines. Sensitive observation and analysis are the skills of a mechanical engineer required in the operation and handling of complex systems. With a large workload, love and passion for the profession are indispensable for mechanical engineering students.

4. Are you suitable for Mechanical Engineering at VGU?

In order to choose a suitable career, out of competence, students need to consider whether their personalities and interests are suitable or not. Besides knowledge and the ability to compute scientific thinking, each specific option has its own requirements that learners should learn clearly to choose the right learning path for them.

Mechanical engineering requires students to study with an interest in researching, manufacturing, and assembling machines and have an interest in knowledge of mechanical physics. If you are capable of scientific subjects, have a meticulous personality and are interested in details, this is the subject for you.

5. Career prospects for a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

With a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, students graduate with extensive career opportunities. Students can choose to work in positions such as design engineer, project engineer, automation engineer, research engineer in design, manufacturing, management, operations, maintenance, maintenance of machinery and equipment at domestic and foreign manufacturing factories in areas such as automobile, train, aircraft, energy technology, healthcare, food technology, microchip technology, Nanotechnology,…

In fact, 80% of VGU's Mechanical Engineering students find jobs right after graduation, and another 20% choose to continue to study at higher level /

6. Why should choose VGU

Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is the first public international university built on the basis of bilateral educational cooperation between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany, with the goal of becoming a research university. top rescue in the country and the region. The university's training and research activities are focused on Germany's strengths in science, engineering, automation, and technology, as well as economics and management, tailored to the realities and needs of the school. Vietnam.

Mechanical engineering and other bachelor's training programs at VGU are accredited by prestigious German organizations, taught entirely in English with domestic and foreign lecturers with experience in the same education. direct visiting tutors from partner schools in Germany. Besides solid professional knowledge, VGU also equips students with the soft skills needed to become global citizens in the future. The internationally recognized Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, plus VGU's extensive cooperation, will provide countless opportunities for cultural, academic, internship and scholarship exchange for students.
